Business Cards Design and Printing: An excellent resource for any business
*Without a doubt, business cards are the simplest way to provide information
regarding your business
to your clients. Your packing all your contact information, business
identity/logo into a wallet sized billboard.
*Business Card design and printing can come in different forms. Raised ink and
full color are among the most common. But there is also die cut, foil stamp, and
embossing. Determining which is best for your business may come down to just the
economics of which to choose from.
*Die cut business cards are more expensive, but they do stand out because of
there unique shapes.
*Foil stamping stands out as well, but again these are more expensive do to the
cost of creating a die for the stamp. This is only cost effective if you plan on
printing a multitude of business card orders for various individuals in your
company.
*Embossing is great looking and not as expensive as the other two options. This
very cost effective with large amounts of volume as well.
*CMYK full color printing is the most flexible of all formats simply because it
gives you the option of using photographs, full color logos and designs. Once
more they are a cost effective way to display your information. The process used
to print has been streamed lined in the last several years. Additionally, a UV
coat is typically applied giving your business card a photographic appearance.
CMYK Color Printing can also be used in different process
such as business card stickers, magnetic business cards and plastic business
cards. Each of these types of cards have there unique marketing effectiveness.
Business card magnets are very effective. They usually end up on
refrigerators and not thrown away or forgotten about. Having your business card
on some ones refrigerator so that they see it just about daily is great
advertising without allot of costs evolved,
Plastic business cards are extremely durable and water resilient. These are
an almost indestructible form of advertising that will stand out among other
paper business cards.
Sticker business cards are an effective marketing tool because they can be
placed on virtually anything.
*Let's not forget about Bi Fold business cards. These are very useful if you are planning on needing extra space on your business cards for writing information. They also display great on ones desk because they will stand up like a name plate. Since these fold over to effectively be the same size as a standard business card, you can get more information and graphics on the card in the same amount of space.
*Print companies set up there machines to do different sets of runs and optimize
for such. In other words, one print company is set up to optimize in 500 set per
order runs. Another print company may be set up to do optimize for a larger
volume of 5000 set per order runs. Depending how the line is set up determines
the price point for the business cards.
*Raised ink or the technical term thermograph print is somewhat similar in set
up. But do the fact that most raised ink processes do not use uv coating (unless
the card stock itself is already uv coated), there is usually a better choices
for card stock. Typically, it is best to use Pantone colors if the business card
is a two color scheme for raised lettering simply because of the mixing of
colors can be exact. CMYK is not a precise as a Pantone/PMS mix. With CMYK you
will always get some variation in color during large runs. This is usually
negligible at best, but having consistency is important.
If you desire a combination of any of these styles, you must realize that some
are more difficult than others which can add to the cost. For instance, a color business
card with uv coating and add raised ink to it. These are completely different
processes and use different machines. Embossing a full color business card or
even a 2 color card where you want the embossing to lay exactly on a design is
very difficult to match. Again, these are different machines and if you have to
realize that there is some variation in alignment when business cards are
printed no matter how precise the machining that is used. Some print companies
do have sophisticated equipment and are capable of doing this, but do to the
costs involved, it is not very practical unless you have a large corporation and
plan on printing several hundred sets of business cards.
Bottom line: Choose your business card based on how you would like to project
your overall image, what fits into your marketing strategy and budget. Simple
business cards can be just as effective as a more complicated one depending on
your marketing needs.
